{Book Review} Pat-a-Cake – Share, Play, Discover

On my blog, I often feature book reviews done by my girl who is a voracious book reader. I should say book eater! She loves books. My boy is more into cars and other toys. But no one can deny that books are the best friends. So am trying to get him to understand that books can be as much fun as toys and there’s so much to learn from these friends. Am so happy that Pat-a-Cake is helping me immensely in this mission.

Pat-a-Cake is a series of titles suitable from baby to 6-year old. Take a look of what you can get under Pat-a-Cake series.

Shri – my 5-year old became very happy when he got the package addressed to him.

We got a few of the above titles and they all are nothing but the best. My first parameter to measure the effectiveness of kids books is “cover page”. They say – Don’t judge the book by its cover. But for kids book, if the cover is attractive then only kids open it and start taking interest in it.

Aren’t these Pat-a-Cake books look absolutely wonderful? Which one to select and read first was the BIG question for my boy.

Okay, lets start with everyone’s favorite story of Little Red Riding Hood.

We all know the story and still it is always very interesting to read. Beautiful color scheme, bigger font and awesome illustrations – This Pat-a-Cake book is a clear winner.

What’s next?

Kids love Stickers so this book is such a treat for them! 40 Big stickers included with lots of interesting information.

Important note for adults! I left it to my boy’s imagination where to paste which sticker.

After indulging in Story time and sticker time, now it’s Study time. Let’s learn some Phonics.

First Phonics activity book is fun and engaging. It’s perfect to give children a head start as they get to grips with learning to read and write at school.

What I liked the most about this book is that it’s Wipe n Clean – so, it can be reused anytime every time.

This book includes:

  • Activities that teach the first 15 phonemes (sound units) that children will learn in reception
  • Supportive tips and information for parents
  • Wipe-clean pen

I am also going to try other books in the First series like First Numbers, First Writing, First Day, Times Tables Flash Cards, First Phonics Flash Cards.

Last but certainly not the least, this is “Town and About – Farm”. Packed with facts to discover, flaps to lift and things to find on every page, this is a cool book.

Let me show how this flaps work.

Open the flap and learn facts about the farm.

Boy loved it and parents loved it too. He is picking up reading and Pat-a-Cake books are making the whole process very interesting.

Kids learn best when they are actively engaged and the learning comes alive. These books and suggested activities seem to be the right platform for good learning to take place. Thanks for sharing!
