In Singapore, do we have practicing Naturopath? I was looking for one. Glad that I found Ms. Chua Kay Tse from Blackmores. My experience was not only great but the analysis of health, supplements and diet that she prescribed is perfect.

I generally take allopathy medicines when I am feeling unwell. Visit to a GP is what I do and get my common flu, colds and all addressed for the fast relief. Same for kids! My mom recently told me that she is consulting a Naturopath in India and finding this alternate/ supplementary medicines pretty good for her aching knees.  In fact, I remember my grandpa also used to refer to the Naturopathy books quite a few years back.

By the way, I have always seen Blackmores products at Watsons and even bought them before. But didn’t know they have Naturopath associated with them who gives valuable wellness guidance to busy people like me.

Read on to find out what exactly happens in the appointment at Blackmores Naturopath.

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a philosophy of life and an approach to living. It is the belief in living a lifestyle as close to nature as possible. It is a system which focuses on building health and encouraging the body’s self-healing process through holistic health education with the ultimate goal of achieving holistic health and well-being.

Naturopathy has a long history. In fact, Blackmores founder, Maurice Blackmore (1906-1977) believed in the health-giving properties of herbs and minerals led him to develop a whole system of healthcare based on naturopathic principles. His views on natural health, preventive medicine, the environment and recycling were nothing short of radical in the 1930s, and his work opened the doors to new ways of treating illness and maximizing health.

What are the principles of Naturopathy ?

1. The healing power of nature

2. Identify and treat the cause

3. Do no harm

4. Treat the whole person

5. The physician as teacher

6. Prevention is better than cure

As a layperson, what caught my attention was the fact that Naturopathy is completely in tune with your body and nature and has healing powers to enable us to cope up with the challenges of busy lifestyle.

What is expected during a Naturopath & Holistic health consultation?

When I reached the place, I was warmly welcomed by the clinic assistant and then by Kay herself. I must say that they are very prompt and punctual. So when you book an appointment, you will get immediate response and later reminder.

Kay is a delight to talk to and she explained the whole process, philosophy behind Blackmores and Naturopathy with a lot of details. I like such Consultants who make sure that we know all the necessary facts of the treatment.

After she introduced Blackmores and its naturopathic approach, she said that she will do Iridology assessment for me. Aha! This was a new term for me.

What is Iridology?

Iridology is the examination and analysis of the colored portion of the eye, the iris, in order to determine factors that may be important in the prevention and treatment of a health issue, as well as in the attainment of optimum health.

One of the advantages of Iridology is that it can reveal the strength and weaknesses of the individual’s health. An iris may suggest if there is an issue, more than one organ may be involved or that some emotional or mental element exists.

Wow!!! This was totally amazing and I was very curious. It appeared to be like an eye examination. By the way, fret not! It is easy and absolutely painless.

Here are my 2 irises appearing on Kay’s computer. OMG, the color looks like cat eyes!!!

After that Kay looked at it carefully and she began her consultation based on what she assessed during Iridology.

She quickly pointed out that I must have some history of diabetes in my family. My jaw dropped because my dad indeed had diabetes! I mean how she got to know?! Eyes really speak. As Kay explained there is a definite scientific study that goes into this assessment and consultation thereafter. Amazing!

Kay continued with her findings about my general health and risk factors that I could have in future. I couldn’t agree more to what she said.

Later on, she prescribed detailed diet plan and Blackmores supplements to improve overall health and detox. In fact, she has given me some tips and tricks for weight loss too. Am trying to put them in practice already.

Point to be noted: Blackmores’ Health supplements are for all in the family.
