Quick N Tasty Restaurant-style Aglio Olio Spaghetti

Prelude:

I love Aglio Olio Pasta and have eaten it in many times. I also love Olive oil. So decided to make it at home. So easy and damn tasty! Here is a collection of my Olive posts. ♥♥♥

Quick N Tasty Restaurant-style Aglio Olio Spaghetti

My kids always demand western food for dinner – pasta, sandwiches, burgers and so on. Every day, we cannot take them to restaurants and give them these delicacies. But how about cooking them at home? Restaurant’s taste and home-cooked goodness – the best of both combined in my recipe of Aglio Olio Spaghetti. It is very easy to make and can be made in max 20 minutes.

Little bit of the background of Aglio Olio Spaghetti –

It is an Italian pasta recipe originated from Napoli. Aglio Olio indicates spaghetti tossed in garlic and olive oil. Several variations can be created by adding veggies, seafood and so on.

Here are my step-by-step instructions for the recipe –

1 Boil and drain required quantity of Spaghetti. I used wholemeal Spaghetti. Wholemeal Spaghetti provides more fiber than refined pasta. It has lesser calories too.

2 Wash, dry and cut veggies of your choice. I used carrot, green and red peppers. You can consider adding broccoli florets, cabbage, cherry tomatoes and so on. Adding seafood or chunks of chicken can be another option too.

3 Chop a few garlics very finely. gar

4 Add olive oil in a pan. I took less quantity because it tends to make spaghetti oilier after cooking. Lesser is better! Olive Oil comes in different ranges. Ensure you are using the one which is suitable for cooking.IMG_9907

5 Add chopped garlics. I also added some herbs – Italian, basil leaves, mixed etc. Red chili flakes enhance the taste as well.IMG_9906

6 Fry and nicely roast garlics and herbs. Whoa! The aroma would make kids hungry already.

7 Now time to add veggies.

8 Stir fry them for a while. Ensure they are not overcooked. The crunch of the veggies should remain even after stir frying.

9 Lastly, add spaghetti.

10 Toss, Toss, Toss and Mix the spaghetti well with veggies and herbs.IMG_9912

11 Garnish with a few parsley leaves.

12 Serve with cheesy garlic bread and soup.

Kids are happy and Mom is happy too! Dad would also love the dish! You have just saved a few $$$s!! Also, Aglio Olio provides nutrition and it tastes just like perfect restaurant-made spaghetti.

Wholemeal Spaghetti is a source of fiber and carbohydrates. Kids need carbs to maintain their energy levels high and fiber is good for their little tummies. Red and Green papers, Carrots provide Vitamin A, C and many other nutrients and minerals like potassium, phosphorus, magnesium. Red chili flakes and other herbs not only add spice but improve digestion and contain less calories. If you are a mom who needs to lose some weight, adding red chili flakes is a good option since it promotes weight loss.

So what’s for dinner tonight at your home? Quick N Tasty Aglio Olio Spaghetti would be just nice!

Initially, I thought you were sharing your aglio olio experience at a restaurant… then I thought it looked like you cooked the aglio olio yourself! I got a shock and was pleasantly surprised by the great look of it!

This looks interesting. My wife has her own version of olive oil spaghetti which we love more than any restaurant spaghetti. I will let her know about your recipe.

I just ate pasta (carbonara) yesterday and it was tasteless. I would like to try this. I can cook it during our assessment in cookery as one of my main dish.

I also like oil-based pastas, although I prefer the ones with red sauces. This is a simple recipe but it really looks tasty and healthy. We often cook this kind of pasta at home, just for the family. But during parties, kids just like those red sauce pastas. 🙂

The simple combination of garlic, chili flakes and basil is so yum! At our household, we add sundried tomatoes and serve with pan friend salmon or grilled chicken 🙂

I kids can’t appreciate aglio olio. They like their pasta with lots of sauce. I like aglio olio though, especially when it’s spicy! Maybe I shall cook it for lunch when I’m alone at home.
